Understanding Inflammation
The inflammatory response is completely normal and is the cornerstone of the body’s healing response. It is simply the way the body supplies nourishment and enhanced immune activity to areas experiencing injury or infection. Whenever you are exposed to an infectious agent or experience tissues injury or damage, your immune system mounts an inflammatory response Sometimes, however, inflammation gets the upper hand and continues to operate chronically. This causes continual secretion of pro-inflammatory chemicals in the body. The chronic release and circulation of this chemicals results in an attack on healthy cells, blood vessels, and tissues. Chronic inflammation associated diseases/disorders due to longer term course of inflammation and various immune reactions.

Inflammation and Athletes
Chronic Inflammation in muscle cells makes recovery difficult in athletes. Chronic inflammation can negatively impact sports performance and compromise immunity, which may lead to days missed from practice or competition. Some athletes may turn to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as ibuprofen, to decrease inflammation and prevent or reduce pain, but these drugs have been associated with gut damage and may actually impair training adaptations that help athletes recover and get stronger.

Digestion and Inflammation
Intestinal epithelial cells can produce several chemokines and pro-inflammatory cytokines in response to pathogens to induce the migration of granulocytes, lymphocytes, and dendritic cells, resulting in the induction of host immunity Inflammation in intestines also may lead to Dysbiosis (imbalance) of gut microbiota.
